
On Saturday 10th July we held our first Scarecrow Festival at St Margaret's Church in Barming.
There were 55 scarecrows displayed along Church Lane and around the car park. The entries came from Barming Primary School, Bower Grove Special School, Astor of Hever School, Barming Guides, Tiger Cubs and Beavers, Fant Wild LIfe Home group, Barming Lunch Club, St Margaret's walking group, St Margaret's Sunday Club, Women's Institute, St Margaret's Smoothie Club, Belmont Nursery School, May and Nigel McGregor and Chris Bartlett , Brian and Margaret Thorne, The Parish Council and The Friends of St Margaret's Church.
The winners of the competition, judged by everyone attending the festival were :
1st prize May and Nigel McGregor and Chris Bartlett for "More Tea Vicar"

2nd prize Fant Wild Life Home Group for "Sir Fant"
1st prize (child) Gruffacrow by Reception class at Barming Primary School
250 people voted in the competition. Thank you to everyone who entered a scarecrow, all who helped to display them and everyone who came to admire them.
