We were formed around ten years ago, our aim being to help to provide finance to keep the fabric of the church in good repair. If you have travelled along the Maidstone to Tonbridge road it is pretty certain that at Barming you will have seen the church which appears to be isolated in a field on the south side of the road. Many people remark as to how pretty the church seems from the road and it is often affectionately referred to as “The Church in the fields”. St. Margaret’s,being an old building whose history goes back to the 12th century and probably before, needs a lot of upkeep. We have recently decorated the inside of The Church. Two projects are on the horizon - the renewal of the antiquated heating system and the creation of a garden of remembrance for the burial of ashes. Work is also needed to the stonework of the tower.
We organise events to raise funds; our most recent event was the Barming Garden safari which was held in June. We are holding a series of Coffee mornings and the next one is on Wednesday 8th September at 13 Bull Orchard.
