Welcome to St. Margaret's

St. Margaret of Antioch, the Parish Church of Barming is a 12th Century gem. We are located in Church Lane, off South Street, Barming, Maidstone, Kent. For Sat Nav purposes the post code is ME16 9HA.

The village of Barming is on the outskirts of Maidstone on the way out to Tonbridge. About 6,500 people live here and it is a happy welcoming community.

Every year hundreds of people who have no other affiliation with the church come along to concerts and film shows that we put on in the church for the whole community. We are committed in 2010 to continue in our efforts to provide what the community wants and needs without assuming that everybody will come to our services. We see ourselves as primarily being a group of people who can, with the assistance of so many people of different faiths or no faith, help to make Barming an even more caring and active community. So I hope that you will keep an eye out for the new community events we are planning as well as the more familiar activities which appear in the Calendar.

We have a very effective Prayer Partnership with Prayer for Maidstone who have supported us very closely as we try to reach out into our community. We are delighted that some members of PfM are now very regular contributors to our services both in terms of prayer and in the provison of music. We are always open to new ideas and if you would like to use the church for a large event or need a sophisticated sound and projection system please ring the Rectory on 01622-726263

We have a small Mission Church in the centre of the village in Long Rede Lane where more traditional services are held almost every Sunday.

You are very welcome to come along as see us. We have a lot to offer and don’t forget you don’t needn’t be a church goer to join in our events and activities.
