Friends of St Margaret

The Friends of the Parish Church of St. Margaret was formed in October 1995 to maintain and improve, for the benefit of the public, the fabric of the parish church of St. Margaret and its monuments, fixtures, fittings, furniture, stained glass, ornaments, other chattels and its churchyard.

Although the church building has been lovingly cared for over its long life, it is nonetheless an ancient structure that needs continued maintenance. It is a grade II* listed building. But the Parochial Church Council has few resources for this and it is the Friends objective to raise funds to help preserve the heritage of this ancient building for future generations. Membership of The Friends is open to everyone, irrespective of religious persuasion, or where they live, who have a passion for preserving St. Margaret's church.

Since 1995 to February 2011 The Friends, with the generous support of the community, have received a total of £91,625 which, apart from the bank balance of just over £4,000 and minimal expenses, has been spent on the fabric of the church. By the end of March 2012 we hope the funds received will exceed £100,000. We rely on the community and the wider public to support The Friends through membership, gift aid, bequests or by supporting our events. If you are able to help us, or would like to find out more, please contact our chairman Godfrey Reid-Marr on 01622 726785 or email grm2006@hotmail.co.uk
